It was kitchen week on The Block this week and I have been looking forward to the kitchen reveals this year. They really set the tone for the whole house. I loved the sheer curtains giving the kitchens a light and airy feel. So elegant. Take a look at this weeks kitchen reveals and read about what the judges had to say.
House 1 – Jason & Sarah
Jason and Sarah also finished their Master Bedroom and Ensuite this week, after falling behind last week. What a big week for them. The Judges really loved the metallic finishes and Darren was drawn to the concrete extension on the island table.
“Oh wow,” Shaynna said on entry
“They are back in the game,” Neale responded.
“I am so relieved,” mentions Darren.
House 2 – Hannah & Clint
This week Hannah and Clint created a kitchen with a monochrome colour pallet. Shaynna really loved the little styling touches in this kitchen and the different type of material combinations used in the cabinetry. All the Judges loved the functionality of the island bench.
“Straight away I’m looking at the styling”, Shaynna expressed with aproval.
“It gives it a beautiful layered feeling to it,” said Shaynna on the kitchen material layers.
“The largest island bench in the world,” Neale said positively.
House 3 – Ronnie & Georgia
Ronnie and Georgia spent big on luxury items for their kitchen this week on The Block, such as the porcelain splash back and downwards inductor. Darren loved the flow of the black surfaces for connecting with the living and dining area. The judges approved of the proportions of the island bench and Darren loved the texture.
“Well if you ever needed proof that grey is the new white,” said Neale upon entry.
“This is really sexy,” said Shaynna.
Now touching the island bench, “it feels really beautiful too,” said Darren.
House 4 – Sticks & Wombat
Sticks and Wombat’s signature timber pallet can be found in their kitchen with an ‘L’ shaped island bench. The Judges really loved this kitchen but Shaynna wasn’t a fan of the cabinetry. The kitchen did tick all the judges’ boxes for functionality.
“Just before we go in any further, this is beautiful,” said Darren regarding the Caesarstone island bench.
“I think this is a really, really, really sharp, sophisticated, beautiful approach, ” said Darren.
“I think it looks bloody beautiful,” declared Neale.
House 5 – Josh & Elyse
Josh and Elyse changed the orientation of their island bench and also created a larger butler’s pantry. I really love the white cabinetry used in their kitchen and the Judges were also very happy with the functionality of their kitchen.
“That’s dramatic,” Shaynna expressed over the ceasar stone island bench.
“This one feels very sociable,” Neale said referring to the layout of the kitchen.
“It’s so beautiful,” Darren expressed.
Each year I look forward to seeing the Kitchens on The Block, it really is a showcase on the latest trends in homes in and about Melbourne. You can just imagine living in and using each bright kitchen space. Which kitchen was your favourite space?
