Spring is only a couple of weeks away for us here in Australia.  To get you all excited about a new season I have a beautiful story book garden that has been lovingly created by its owners Carole and Jim McWilliams with the help of their friend Tim Stoddard.  Come and take a look at this stunning storybook garden to inspire you for Spring.

I love looking at other gardens, sometimes they can not only inspire you but give you ideas for projects to carry out in your own garden.  Don’t you love this stunning front door to Carole and Jim’s home, it really makes you smile.

Carole McWilliams has transformed their block into a garden full of roses, perennials and bird-attracting trees, with many birdhouses featured throughout the garden.

This white timber archway above would have to be one of the most beautiful features in the garden of this home.  It makes the perfect entrance to this story book garden.

Here are some tips on growing beautiful roses like this one above in Carole’s garden.

Tips On Growing Roses

  • Prune in winter
  • Good drainage
  • Prune flowers from bush when they have finished flowering
  • Roses love the sun
  • The ideal soil for roses is rich in organic matter, such as compost
  • Protect your roses from wind
  • Water often in the summer months

Flowers really do make you happy.  I’m so looking forward to watching everything in the garden flower again.  I hope this beautiful garden has inspired you too.
