Planning
No matter what size your dinner party is, you need to the make time to plan out your event. Make a list of your menu and what food will be served, including drinks and the glasses you will need and what you will require to set a beautiful table.
Outsource where possible, such as having fresh flower bouquets made up at your local florist or you may be in luck and have an abundance of flowering plants in your garden.
Colour & Style
Find inspiration for your table setting, it could be from your garden or you can check what is in season at your local florist.
Pinterest, home magazines and decorating books are a great source of inspiration. Choose your style and colours and have some fun.

Choose Your Setting
I love a white china setting for setting my table, by using my white setting they are easy to replace any plates or bowls that are chipped or broken.
You can mix a basic white set with a different coloured side plate to brighten up the table.

Layering
A simple white table cloth is perfect for a more formal dinner party, add a patterned table cloth for a more relaxed dining event.
I love using napkins, they are a real luxury and adding them to your setting will finish your table off beautifully.

Decor
This is the fun part, adding your decor. You can keep it simple and put out a few nice candles and your favourite serving dishes.
Trays are great for holding other items such as a jug of water and some glasses.
Name tags add a personal touch to your table decor or place a small piece of foliage on top of your table napkin. Below are some of my favourite decorative pieces and dinnerware for a table setting from Provincial Home Living.
