I love fresh flowers in my home, they are a quick and simple way to add colour and something pretty to your decor. They welcome visitors into the entrance of your home and beautifully decorate a dining or kitchen table for a small gathering. Today I have a recipe on how to make fresh flowers last longer.

Ingredients
- 1 litre of water
- 1 teaspoon of lemon juice or white vinegar
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- Vase
- Ice cubes
- Secateurs
Start with a clean vase and fill halfway with water. Add the above ingredients and mix together.
Arrange your flowers in your vase and add some ice cubes. Roses and hydrangeas especially love ice cubes. It really helps to keep them fresher, longer. My mum would always crush the end of the Hydrangea stems, this will help them live longer too.

Plants love sugar and this will help them flower and thrive. When you are preparing your flowers, don’t forget to remove the lower leaves from your flower stems and cut your flowers to the required height for your vase.
Do you have any secrets to share on how you keep your flowers fresher for longer? We would love to hear them.
