A Boxed Hedge plant looks great in a wicker basket. Place your potted plant directly into the basket. Use a saucer under your plant to catch any excess water so as to keep your basket dry.

Vary the size of your baskets and plants and place them in groupings of three or more. Your baskets may be fine outdoors in the warmer months, but pop them under cover in your patio or deck in the cooler months of the year to keep them out of the weather.

I love a white Hydrangea in a basket, they look so fresh. If the basket is too deep for your plant use another pot, turned upside down in the basket to rest your plant on. This will give it the height to fit perfectly into the basket.

Use your baskets for storing bulbs and gardening tools too. I also keep a few small handled baskets by the back door for collecting flowers from the garden and collecting eggs from my chickens. Even a topiary plant looks fabulous in a wicker basket.

Start collecting your baskets or you may have some old ones you can use. Don’t forget that if your baskets are the wrong colour you can spray paint them to a more neutral or bright colour. Get creative and have some fun.
