Simple Tips to Create A Beautiful Table Setting

Autumn is the perfect time of year for entertaining. I love creating a beautiful table setting at home for my family. Today I have some simple tips on creating your own beautiful table setting for any occassion.

Choose your style or theme for your table setting. Do you want a formal setting for a special occasion or a more relaxed look for a family gathering. What are you celebrating?

Flowers

When it comes to your table centerpiece, a bouquet of fresh flowers or herbs on your table make a beautiful display. Place your bouquet in a short vase so you can see across the table to your dinner guest.

Alternatively place a line of bud vases with a single flower in each down the middle of your table. I love this table centerpiece above, foliage and roses laid out down the middle.

Place Settings

Whether you are using a single plate with a napkin or layering your place settings for different courses. Begin with a dinner plate and then layer your setting with a salad plate and bowl. Group your drinking glasses together for each place setting to create a more formal table.

Mix and match your table setting by using a collection of your china and glassware.

Table Linens

Dress your table with a runner, table cloth or placements. They are also a great way to add colour to your table. If you are looking for a more formal setting use a white table cloth.

I love using cloth napkins on my table setting, firstly because I have way too many of them. I love buying new ones, they are also an easy way to add pattern and colour. Place your napkin under the salad bowl on your salad plate or arrange your napkin to the side of the setting under the cutlery.

Make it Personal

Add a personal touch to your table setting with a place setting name tag. Candles scattered down the middle of your table will create a soft glow, perfect for a special occasion. Battery operated candles also make a great display. Place tea light candles in a beautiful glass colored holder.

A small beautifully wrapped gift will impress your guests. Whether it be a small potted succulent or a beautifully wrapped soap or box of chocolates. An unexpected gift is a treat.
